FAQ

This case study describes how Zhejiang Ruipu supplied duplex stainless steel bars for an overseas seawater desalination project — from the buyer’s technical requirement through qualification to delivered material with full traceability.

Challenge

The end-user required bars for pump shafts and pressure-bearing components in a desalination train with continuous chloride exposure and intermittent abrasive service. The buyer needed a grade that combined high strength with resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, plus third-party inspection acceptable to a European EPC.

Solution

We proposed duplex stainless steel (2205 / S31803) bars, supplied to EN 10088-3 with composition aligned to the EPC’s specification. Each heat was delivered with:

  • EN 10204 3.1 Mill Test Certificate showing heat number, chemistry and mechanical properties
  • European PED compliance documentation
  • Third-party inspection (SGS / TÜV / BV) as nominated by the buyer
  • Peeled and straightened bars with anti-rust protection and seaworthy packing

Result

The material passed incoming inspection and was put into service; full heat-number traceability simplified the EPC’s quality record. The same grade and documentation route has since been repeated for follow-on orders.
